William James McKee (Bill) was born 2 Aug, 1898, Machar Twp., Parry Sound Dist., Ont. and died 27 Dec, 1979, in Owen Sound, Ont.
On 29 July, 1930 he married Elleta May Mock, in Owen Sound, Ont. Leta had been a teacher at the local school (Machar Twp. S.S. #3) the year previous. She was born in Shallow Lake, Grey County, Sept 9, 1908, and died in Owen Sound, 26 Sept 1999. They farmed on
Eagle Lake (Machar Twp) until 1942, and had two children, Bev and Barry.
The family moved to Owen Sound in 1942, where Bill worked at the RCA Victor cabinet division until age 65, and subsequently with a local nursery.
Beverley William McKee (Bev) was born in Machar Twp., Dec 14, 1936, and died of cancer in Bayfield, Ont. May 23, 2011.
Bev was trained in family medicine at McGill University, and practiced for a few years in Owen Sound. He subsequently took training in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and practised in Owen Sound, Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, and Goderich, Ont.
His first marriage, in Sept 1959 in Montreal, was to Carol Irene Batty, born Oct 14 1939. They had two children, Pamela Carol, born Oct 16 1960 in Montreal, and Michael Beverley, born Mar 16 1965, in Owen Sound, Ont. Michael died in a car accident in Perth-Andover on Aug 15 1981. Pam graduated from the University of Toronto and married Ian Johnstone Aug 6, 1988. They have two children, Maia McKee, born June 19 1992, and Matthew Alistair, born Nov 6 1995, both in Brooklyn, New York. Pam and Ian divorced in 2009. Pam is a social worker near Boston, Maia has returned to Canada for her university, attending UofT, and Matthew will be taking a gap year and attending McGill University in 2014.
Bev married Jacqueline May Tuckey (born Feb 26 1947) on March 5 1983 in Owen Sound. A son, Ryan William Charles was born Jan 2 1983, in Perth-Andover, NB, and recently graduated in family medicine from Queen’s University. Ryan married Kendra Hollidge, a social worker, July 28 2012, and they live in Kitchener, Ontario.
Bev married Jane Davidson (born Apr 19 1936 in England) in Ottawa on Aug 31 2002 and they lived in Bayfield, Ont. Bev was a supporter of local and international Rotary clubs; everyone who knew him described him as a gentleman.
Barry Thomas Andrew McKee was born in Machar Twp., May 21, 1940.
He did an undergraduate degree at McGill, and a graduate degree (solid state physics) at Dalhousie University, Halifax. Barry met Marg (Margaret Mary Bennett, born Aug 10 1944, Halifax, NS) a nurse in training at the Victoria General Hospital, and they were married on Sep 2 1967 in Halifax.
After their marriage, Barry and Marg lived a year in Halifax, 25 years in Kingston, Ont, and 13 years in Ottawa, Ont. (where Barry worked as a medical physicist) before retiring to New Westminster, BC.
They have one daughter, Karina Margaret, born Nov 13 1972 in Kingston, Ont. Karina took a graduate degree (industrial relations) at Queens University, and works as a Human Resource manager. She married Morgan Garrett on Feb 14 1999. Karina and Morgan divorced in 2009 and she married Yvon Lapalme July 23 2011. They live in North Delta, BC. Yvon has a daughter, Evangeline, born July 28 1997.
