Passenger List for Clipper Northern Bride,
Manchester to Auckland, 1860
As Reported In ‘The New Zealander’ Newspaper
(Auckland) of Saturday August 25, 1860.
(PLEASE NOTE: Even though I have been careful to list the
names as they appeared
in the newspaper, please remember that these lists were not always accurate)
“The ‘White Star’ clipper Northern Bride sailed from
Liverpool for Auckland, New Zealand, direct, on the 14th of June, with a full
and valuable cargo and 180 passengers, all of whom are of a very superior class
of emigrants, taking considerable capital, large quantities of freight, and
valuable agricultural implements. “Land orders” for the free grants
of land in the province of Auckland have been eagerly sought after, and the
majority of passengers by this ship have obtained these “orders” from
the agents of the provincial government in the United Kingdom.”
